I went through the interview process twice, a year apart. Both times I made it to the final interview(a code review of the technical assessment). I received positive feedback on my code, even corrected a slight problem in their answer. Both times I was told I would get a decision within a week. After 1.5-2 weeks I followed up politely, which they responded that I would soon get an answer. Then, they ghosted me. Stringing applicants along for weeks through a complicated, time consuming process and never giving an answer is unprofessional.

Applied and was invited to attend a face to face interview in the Belfast HQ. This began with a 40-minute flow chart style logic test. I didn't get it finished but don't think this matters too much, it's just to see you have decent logical thinking capabilities. The interviewer was really nice and this was a pretty laid back interview which was mainly around my background, what I knew about the company and why I wanted to work for them. It also included one abstract logic question, "How would you estimate the number of restaurants in Belfast?". After this interview I was given a week to complete a number of questions using the q programming language which AquaQ primarily uses. This took me about 10 hours to complete and isn't too difficult if you have any experience with coding. There are plenty of online resources to help too. After submitting these, I was invited back for a final interview. This began with a junior developer running through my answers with me and discussing with me what I did well and what I could improve on. Finally, there was a more technical interview with a senior developer. Again he was very friendly and asked in more detail about my experience in my degree aswell as some fairly basic financial questions. You may be asked a few questions about the q language but I wouldn't worry too much as they don't assume any coding background and will train you up. He also asked me quite a strange logic question "Name 10 things you could do with a brick." I felt I struggled through this but the interviewer didn't mind much and just wanted to see my logic in answering and out of the box thinking. Overall the process was quite enjoyable and not too difficult and the employees I spoke to were all very nice. I got a really good vibe about the office that I would love to work there.

Initial Skype call with HR - Time(45 mins) Take home kdb assessment which need to be completed in a week's time. Requires spending time studying the new technology.- Time( 10 - 15 hrs) Onsite Logical Written Test - Time (45 mins) Onsite Face to Face Interview - Time (one hour) - The recruiters have no clarity about the hiring process in US. - Though my status (F1 visa) was known to HR from the beginning of the recruitment process, they were not sure of the onboarding process of international students. - During the two months of my interview process, the company did not seem to have made any efforts to understand the legalities around hiring an F1 student including the visa sponsorship. Even during the final face to face interview, they were unsure if they should hire an international student. - The interviews went very well and I was told that they would get back with more clarity on the hiring and visa sponsorship, which did not happen. - After spending nearly 18-20 hrs for the whole interview process across 2 months, the company did not have the courtesy to let me know whether they are proceeding with my candidature even after multiple follow ups. - Overall I feel, it was a waste of my time and effort.
