I applied online for a role that appeared to exactly match my experience and skill level. A response was received within one day saying they have looked at my background and are requesting a phone interview with the Lead Recruiter. The earliest available time was a few days out which was fine. Half an hour prior to my scheduled phone interview with the Recruiter, he emailed me to say that he had just spoken with the hiring manager and determined my background is not what they are looking for. I appreciate the heads up, but had hoped the Hiring Manager had reviewed my resume prior to setting up a phone screen. I was very excited for my interview and had spent extra time researching the company and reviewing their Investor Relations materials to prepare. No hard feelings at all. Hopefully the process improves as a result.
