The lead operations manager asked a lot of questions about high school, which to me in my mid 30s felt a bit irrelevant to the position I was applying for as there was so much more she could have requested of me that would have been more important to the position. Such as the skills I have, or what my team (who are the people I regularly work with would say about me.) Or what I might say about my own personal strengths and weaknesses are. Instead, they asked me about my management. Which was ok… I guess… but it felt as though she kept wanting me to bad mouth each of them only pressing for a negative response and gossip. This made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. It made it hard for me to stay on track as I kept trying to redirect to my work skills instead of just talking about the negatives I experienced in previously held positions.
