      Entretien

I have been an interviewer and been interviewed by top tier companies before and this was by far the most frustrating experience for me. I interviewed for the last mile team with an eng manager and a shadow interviewer for the role of a sr tpm. It seemed like they hadn't done much preparation prior to the interview and were asking questions off of a script. One of the interviewer first asked me to describe a challenging situation and how I dealt with it. Shortly after the shadow interviewer asked me to describe a difficult situation and how i dealt with it. I was compelled to ask if there was something lacking in my previous answer that they wanted me to address which is why they were asking me repetitive questions. Also during the first 15 min of my interview, one of the interviewer kept asking me in depth questions about my knowledge of release management, which I was happy to answer. However later in the interview when I asked him what their team's release cadences looked like he mentioned that the senior TPM wasn't responsible for doing release management. That was the role of a delivery manager. I then questioned why they asked me such in depth questions and wasted my time on something that wouldn't even be part of my role. They also seemed disengaged during the process. Right after I was done answering one of my questions describing in detail my role in a situation, one of the interviewer asked me, "so what was your role in the given situatuon". I felt like such behavior was very disrespectful and at that point it was evident that they hadn't gone through much interview training as these are the basics they cover in an interview workshop. It also seemed like not much thought was being put into asking questions. I had to clarify the intent of every question that was being asked in order to ensure I was addressing them correctly. It was disappointing to not be able to get through the interview especially after preparing so hard for it purely on the basis of communication gap between the interviewers and their evident lack of interviewing skills. But i made my peace with it because being selected for the role would mean I would be working with them in the future.
