Phone screen. This call was a talk from the recruiter telling me what I can say and not say in my interview with the Manager. I thought it would be a screening interview, though it was a call to prepare me for the call with the Manager. Really challenging time getting times coordinated; took about 1 month to get a phone call with the Manager from the initial point of contact. There were mistakes in the job spec which I pointed out. The team emailed me a list of questions to prepare for. They also had spelling mistakes/grammatical errors in them that I pointed out to the team. I sent questions to the team in advance of the interview with the Manager; didn’t get a response. Followed up and still no response. The Manager was late by approx. 30 minutes because the Manager’s schedule was double booked and the team didn’t tell me. I contacted the team to find out what happened, no response until the next day. There seemed to be a big gap in alignment within their internal teams. I eventually spoke to the Manager who was apologetic. Most of the call was the Manager explaining the role. I realized that the description the Manager was giving me was different to the job spec. There was also very little time for the Manager to ask me questions and for me to ask questions. The questions that the team sent to me to prepare were not covered. The Manager seemed scattered and disorganized. The manager pulled up my details as we were talking. I had a further interview in which I realized there wasn’t a good fit. I expressed my perspective. The next day, I receive an email saying that they will not be moving forward. The title of the role in the email was not for the role that I applied for. The level of attention, focus and detail were not there. I trust that they will improve this process for others in the future!
