Interview process was online test and telephonic interview -> F2F interview. I could not go till F2F.
I applied online, and got a response pretty soon. The HR panel was very pleasant and they were very much interested in knowing my profile, where do I fit and what would be my comfortable time for interview. They scheduled my telephonic screening round accordingly.
Till this point everything was smooth.
In my telephonic screening round, for first 20-25 mins, there were behavioral questions on leadership, handling tough situations etc. After that the technical task started.
This has been my consistent observation in Amazon tech interviews that they don't spend much time in forming the question well. They just randomly throw something half-cooked in front of you, and you are supposed to understand it by magic. I guess they expect you to remember stuff from hacker-rank or some other online coding service provider, so that they need not to work much on it.
I was given a question with minimum details possible, I was not even able to understand the task even after 3-4 follow up questions (Most of the answers to them were repetition of what has been told already). In next 10 mins, my interviewer got bored, and he asked me to wind up, and that's all.

Question 1
I was given a ASCII-graph of weird pattern of 'X' and ' ' in disarranged boxes with time, and from a given position, I had to fill all the blanks by X for all those boxes. Till date I am not clear if the question was to write an algorithm to generate this pattern of 'X' or it was to fill the empty spaces with X from a starting point.
When I asked the interviewer the same, he told "Yes" . What ?? :-).

Entretien
Recruiter approached on linkedin, provided context for the role, also provided a doc mentioning key info about interview process. A week later phone screen was scheduled. Invitation arrived for onsite interviews in a week's time. There were 5 rounds: coding, design(2), HM and BR. It took a month before recruiter finally contacted to update on the result.

Entretien
4 hr,
1 interviewer each for every 50min, with 10 min break between each session
4 interviewers = 2 SDE-III engineers, 2 dev-managers
50 min is divided into 45 min their interview, 5 min your questions (if any)
Interview organizer knocks door at 45 min. mark to indicate only 5 min left.
Format for 45 min: intro about interviewer (may be 2min), then your intro (be well prepared here as this will be input for interviewer focus), some design questions, and then a programming question
