      Entretien

The talent acquisition team needs to be better trained. They have a very antiquated way of interviewing. “Tell me about a time” questions are outdated as they often don’t relate to the job they are interviewing for.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

A series of “tell me about a time” questions, along with “what do you know about Alphasights”.

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via une agence de recrutement. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez AlphaSights (Londres, Angleterre) en août 2023

      Entretien

This was not a good interview process, the first stage was relatively straight forward 1 hour zoom with a manager. Second stage was a tour of the office, followed by another shorter interview with the same manager and another junior colleague (20 mins). Part of the second stage required a presentation, now, here is where I realised this organisation was not very professional. My presentation was printed out, but I never actually got a chance to present it. In this almost 3 hour long interview with the London based Co-founder I was asked a myriad of interview questions that seemed to have no real structure or purpose to them. Be expected to hear “what job do your parents do?” “What job do your siblings have?” “Why did you not go on to follow your parents job(s)?” “Why did you attend that university?” “Why did you attend that secondary school?” The line of questioning was quite asinine, I was being asked questions where I had no input in the decision; not exactly sure how I can give an answer for why my parents chose the school I attended, you know, being 11 years old and all... I can only assume the randomness of the questions was very clearly shown on my face during the interview. I had to refer back to my presentation, just to make sure it was at least acknowledge. Not to add, no feedback was ever given, the recruiter did chase several times, this only further confirmed that this was not a place I would want to work. I wish I would have trusted my gut and ended the interview when I heard the London Co-founder insulting members of his staff for not having the printer stocked with paper. Overall a rather unpleasant experience and 4 hours of my life I will never get back.
