The recruiting process was smooth and consistent, with good communication throughout.
The case study however had very little guidance to it and took a lot of time to prepare. It was a difficult one, and very deep research was expected as I have noticed in the interview. The expectations were very high and at times it felt like a lot was expected of me. Product knowledge also comes through working in the job from some time but this case study round felt a bit like they wanted me to understand AlphaSense, their customers etc inside out after a week of preparation for the case study.
It took me on average around 8-10 hours to prepare and I had to accommodate this in between all the other penultimate interviews I have had scheduled (4 + 1 first round with other companies).
This stage is in my opinion not manageable when you have a lot of other interviews going on as the risk is too high to fall through many other applications whilst trying to impress just one potential employer where there is no offer guaranteed at this stage. This is the second one and therefore I will not be participating in a case study with either AlphaSense or any other employer in the future. The market is too tough at the moment to risk it and AlphaSense need to take this into consideration. Maybe a difficult questioning tactic / competency based interview stage may be more ideal to substitute the case study in the current market to find the right candidate.

Made it to the 4th round which was a mock discovery call/presentation (toom me 10 hours to prepare for). The 2 directors no showed the interview and I was never given an explanation of what happened. Very poor experience.

Pretty straight forward process. Hiring manager was nice and respectful but thorough with questions. Things took a turn during the case study presentation. From what I gathered, the case study interview was meant to pressure test your response to stress instead of assessing ability. I was cut off repeatedly rather rudely during the presentation multiple times. At one point it was demanded that I explain what features in AlphaSense would the personas utilize “no generic answers allowed.” I was confused because the mock presentation was not about feature utilization but I guess they felt I didn’t understand the product. Given that I do not know the platform, I could only answer using the public information on features and published case studies. Because of the interruptions and time it took answering each question we had to switch to the 2nd half of the interview without me completing the presentation.
The mock call went ok but I still couldn’t shake how dismissive and condescending they were. I guess this is their way of measuring grit. The company seems ok but the sales culture seems a bit toxic here. Frequent PIPs, higher potential for micromanagement etc.

did multiple presentations and prepped 10+ hours for them and they ghosted me. super disappointing as I felt like I gave them free insight into how my company sells, which is competitive.
