I applied online for the position. I took the required test. I waited 3 months or so for someone to contact me. I along with 70+ other applicants sweated it out. The state application process is a lot longer than a private company's process. I have a coworker who waited 2 years. I was called for an interview. I showed up in a ball cap (not the best idea) (at least my shirt was tucked in). I sat before 3 people who would soon be my supervisors. They asked me questions. I answered the best I could. In 15 minutes it was over. I got a call back 2 weeks later saying they had hired another applicant. To my surprise they called me back a month later and said that the guy they hired worked one day and quit! Sooooo I got the job. All in all this took about 4 to 5 months.
