I had read a Glassdoor review previously about how much they hammered home "Adyen culture" and "Adyen values" and figured a lot of places do similar "Love our culture" talks. That review was spot on for my experiences. I seriously felt like I was being asked more about how much I will eat, breath, sleep Adyen than figuring out my motives or even who I am. I know someone through a 3rd party working at Adyen. With a straight face and no thought of the context I was asked what have they told you about our culture and values? The initial phone call was conducted with very one sided language. I AM THE tech recruiter for Adyen. You need to... Its good if you.... The screening caller felt the need to ask a question I had already answered as part of the application and via email prior to setting up the meeting. Maybe Adyen culture should include listening or having trust. The screen call started late and at the end when the call was actually 4 minutes short, the screener felt the need to mention we went over time. Its a shame technical people are gatekept from talking to technical people by people way to invested into their business' culture.

Very Friendly at first. The recruiter is very friendly, however, once you make it down several layers of interviews, it starts to get dicey. I think the culture they promote and how they talk to each other is very different than I am used to. In many of their videos, they mention how they are very direct without offending. Not true, They ARE direct, but they can and do offend. To a point it may even come off as brash and pretentious. I think here in the states, we try to be empathetic with the way we approach and interview people. Adyen's idea of feedback, is definitely not that. Their engineers pretend to be nice, and think they might know more than the next person, but in fact are very set in their ways, and have a very narrow-minded view on how to approach asversity in the technolgy space. Their spectrum is very limited to what upstarts might align to, but forget that many of our societies tech companies deal with a lot of legacy systems, and have to be more open to other solutions, that aren't always 1 path. In retrospect, I am glad I wasn't offer the role. They are set in their ways, and as I've seen, they have had a very difficult time filling out the role. I don't think it's because they haven't found the right person, or that they are being very picky. I think their engineers are just getting in their own way. They appear to be very progressive, but after talking to them, I don't think they are looking for people with different ideas. They want people who think exactly like them.
