I was a little nervous going into this process based on past reviews, but I think they definitely focused on improving the recruitment process, I had an overall good experience. When you apply, they send you a "homework" to complete, which is pretty straightforward. If you move on, they schedule a phone screen. My recruiter was only 3 weeks into her role, but she was knowledgeable, confident and friendly. I completed a phone screen with her that just went over my past experience and an overview of a portfolio case study. My recruiter maintained excellent communication throughout my process and even gave me the option to text her if I had any quick questions or concerns, which I really liked. The second stage was meeting with a Principal Designer and doing an in-depth portfolio presentation. After that was a meeting with two other members of the design team who just asked behavioral questions and gave me the opportunity to ask more questions. The final stage was an interview with the Creative Director, who asked more role specific questions and again gave me the opportunity to ask any questions I had. Everyone I encountered at this organization was friendly, transparent and seemed to love what they do. Although it is a long process, it did not feel excessive, and I appreciated the thought they put into each hire to ensure everyone is a good fit.

I applied online, and after about a month or so, I was asked to complete a homework assignment. It wasn't difficult at all. After a few weeks, a recruiter got back to me and asked me to submit a few dates and times for an interview. The next day, their recruiter called me to prepare me for the next day interview. It was nice actually, told me what to expect and went deeper on the UX. My first interview was with two designers. Went very well. After about a day or two, I was asked to submit more dates and times for my second round interview. Along with the second round interview confirmation, I was asked to have a presentation ready. Wasn't too hard, just had to present a project I worked on. My second interview went ok, a little tech problems, but you give and take when it comes to a remote interview. I felt good after the second interview. I was asked to submit more dates and times for a third interview. Great sign, right? The third interview was almost the same as the first, but I was told to be patient it would take a week or two to figure out where to assign people according to their strengths. I felt great. Its been a little over a month or so. I've emailed the recruiter and just like the others, no answer. Its a shame, seems like a great company to work for and values I want to align with.

This was the most ridiculous hiring process I've ever dealt with. As others have stated, the actual interviewers were smart, kind and efficient but the "recruiting team" was abysmal. (Multiple times) Weeks would go by without an update and I would reach out asking for an update. Several days later I would finally hear back with a response that they were still trying to figure some business aspects out and I would hear back soon. This whole process went on for about three months. Clearly I was too optimistic about working for Ad Hoc and should never have pursued to work for this company for that long but I believed in their mission and products. In the end I never did hear any "yes" or "no" just radio silence. The last I had heard I was still in the running and would hear something in a couple of days. That was weeks ago and they've ignored multiple emails. This is not only bad business but shows a real lack of compassion for those that are interested in their roles.
