Reached out to on Linkedin by outsourced technical recruiter which lead to a phone screening by internal recruiter. That went good, then I had a zoom interview with lead designer which I thought went well... Never heard back from company or recruiter after that call. Very unprofessional to ghost candidates whether it's a fit or not...

I submitted an application for a Front End Engineer position on LinkedIn and someone from their talent acquisition team reached out to me about a week later. They quickly scheduled a video interview with a Product Manager, which seemed like it was intended to get an idea of my skill-set, background, previous work experience, etc. The interviewer was friendly and professional. Around the next day they sent an email to schedule a time for a phone call/screening (looking back now the order of this was a little odd, but was probably for scheduling availability reasons). Phone call was great, basically just seeing alignment on salary, benefits, etc. Again, interviewer was friendly and professional. I was then sent a code test, where I had to build a specific front end component based off of some specifications. No dumb restrictions or anything - just make the end result look like the given example. I completed this and uploaded it to a code sharing site for their review. A few days later I was contacted to get my availability for 3 consecutive interviews with 5 people, which lasted around a total of 2 hours. The only "hiccup" in this was that the position was now being referred to as a "Senior" position, which the initial job listing did not mention. This series of interviews was great. I mentioned to the team manager in this interview that I wasn't aware it was a senior level position when I had applied. I was still game for the position, even though I preferred starting at a lower level in order to get more familiar with the processes and the team before being in a higher level position. He was super understanding and mentioned that they had a Level 3 position on the same team if I was interested. I was. All of the other interviews in this panel set were also great. I actually enjoyed talking to everyone and it was definitely a great experience. Very down to earth, fun, and real people. No hint of a corporate vibe. The recruiter called to let me know shortly after the panel interview that since the position had now changed to the non-senior level position, there would be an additional wait because they were still interviewing people for that position. A week later, he called me with an offer. I'm extremely impressed with their interview process - they stayed on top of everything the entire way through and kept me up to date along the way. They are also FAST at getting back to you, and I definitely appreciate the effort they put into this.

Active Campaign's interview process is a disaster, and it's a shame because they have some really talented engineers and designers working for them. For this position, I was had an initial call with a recruiter who told me about the position and company. Then, I was asked to create a React application to consume and display data from their proprietary API (via an access key), and to use their proprietary design library. After this, I was given an onsite invitation with several different groups of people that lasted the better part of a day. During these interviews we reviewed my background, the application I built, discussed the role in further depth, and overall these interviews were really positive. After the interviews, the recruiter dragged on the process for a very long time without providing any updates or communication. After hearing from them again, the communication was very hot and cold; one call provided me with exceptional feedback, and another was mostly nitpicked nonsense to justify not making the hire. I just don't understand how they could claim to like someone so much one day, and have nearly the opposite feedback on the next day unless the job posting changed overnight. My experience with Active Campaign's recruiters was very unprofessional and I would not apply here again. Beware, they're also trying to pull a fast one over developers by placing job postings for React developers, but actually having engineers write EmberJS code in their legacy codebase.
