An recruiting agency contacted for the role had an initial screen with the head of engineering. The interview was quite straight, and the person seemed to know what he wanted for the team. I was told I would be called for the next round. After a week I got a call from the recruiter that the interview process had changed and the CEO wanted to do the screening from scratch. Considering the market filled with layoffs I agreed on redoing the whole screening process. The interview with the CEO felt really unstructured and was rejected on the assumption that I can't drive to the office as it's a hybrid role. I wasn't even asked about that and how I commute isn't something that should matter to the role.
