I spent several hours of my valuable time interviewing, from that first conversation with the recruiter throughout discussions with several members of the team. All interviews were more casual/conversational in nature. The recruiter had provided me with positive feedback and even verbally told me that I would be getting an offer. Several days later, the story completely changed. No offer. It’s OK, I wouldn’t have taken it anyway, not after I read some negative information about the company. However, I was rather irritated by the blatantly inaccurate information that was given to me. I’m surprised the recruiter even bothered to contact me when it was clear that I wouldn’t be getting an offer after all. Perhaps my info was confused with someone else’s. Whatever the case may be, no recruiter should tell someone that they will be getting an offer until it is 100% in writing and set in stone…especially not when it’s a tough labor market with a limited candidate pool!
