Job was posted on StackOverFlow and required candidates request the software challenge project along with their CV and cover letter. The job description is reflective of their attitude: practical and creative.
The project itself was indicative of the general work they do, it involved fixing and improving an existing data analysis application.
The interview is solely based in this project, both the decision to interview and the interview itself.a it was a breath of fresh air. No stagnant silly interview questions (yep, no weaknesses, 5 yr corporate bla, or similar BS). Everything was practical.
It was two hours, a bit about myself, then general discussion about the company: here I know I didn't have enough questions, but for me, I only ask questions that affect my decision in the event of a positive answer. Everything else had been covered.
The project walk through took an hour and focussed on why I did various things to the code.
The CEO's dogs are the first interviewers-two lovely, quiet, labradoodles. They're nice guys and I'll be applying again in time to come-just have to defeat those other candidates (and nerves).
