      Entretien

Interview the person sitting next to you. You have ten minutes to ask five questions of one another, write the responses down, and then present them to the others in the room. Explain why they are a good fit for the job. This doesn't really work. Ten minutes is not long enough to get through five questions EACH. Especially in my case, where I could talk for hours about my years of relevant work experience, and the guy I had to "interview" spoke like he was being paid by the minute on a 1-900 phone chat. He "hmmm'd" and "hawwww'd" for the lions share of the ten minutes, and had next to nothing to present about me aside from my name, and where I currently work. He was completely unsuited for the job, but I then had to "tap dance", explaining (lying) why this guy was a good fit. In return, I got a less than glowing, abbreviated sales pitch from him, because he didn't know anything about me. I feel this may have damaged by candidacy. I am not comfortable with the idea of a candidate I am competing against for a job, speaking on my behalf. What incentive does he have to pitch me well? Or I him? I wasn't a fan of it at all. Give me a straight forward, no nonsense suit and tie, face to face interview. I hate talking about myself, but I can at least answer their questions myself, and not have to reply on others participation in a party game to determine whether or not I get the job. They said they would let us know either way: an email for a "thanks but no thanks", or a phone call to schedule an actual person to person interview. I haven't heard a peep out of them yet, so I don't know what to make of it. Probably another waste of time and gas.
