      Entretien

Went to a hiring event at a local hotel. Actually declined a different interview because I felt like I exceeded all the requirements they were asking for and thought this was a better fit for me, couldn't be more wrong. Bring your resume with you, fill out an application and no direct "interview" took place. Pretty much just growing their circle of applicants. First question was can I lift 45 lbs which I absolutely can and responded with. Then as if I didn't think things had gone south prior when I was the only one left in the room and heard the two women hosting the event snickering while talking out previous applicants that had just left, it went into the deep end. (Also, just as you judge applicants as they walk through the door; applicants are judging YOU. Not a good look to be talking badly in front of someone looking for work through you.) It was apparent to me things were becoming a bit sexist. I was told they didn't think I'd be able to handle the mopping, cleaning of bathrooms, and taking out the trash on top of the lifting. Just cause someone is a "pretty face" doesn't mean they won't get their hands dirty, did these tasks in previous jobs. I was honestly completely disgusted by what was coming out of her mouth, it was one reason after another for not being a good fit when I felt perfectly qualified with my experience for their position and what they were asking. Her last excuse was they could offer me a chance to interview for an associate job with opportunities for growth because it would really help if I knew more about the store and the way it worked before becoming a manager trainee. Like I said one excuse after another, because if that was the case, why would you host a hiring event and not hire from within??? I pride myself in being fair and was applaud by the experience enough to never step foot in one of their stores again on top of spreading the word so my friends and family don't spend a dime in there giving them any business. Such a disappointing experience I don't think I could put into words the impression it left on me. So females, beware. And Aldi, be conscious of those you have working for you running these events. The behavior I experienced, from one assosciate in partcular (seemed like she was egging it on) was astonishing. Not the person you want to recruit others with behavior and communication skills like that.

I applied to a listing on Indeed and was directed to complete an additional application on the company website. After submitting the applications, I received an email requesting the completion of a "video interview" via HireVue. I downloaded the HireVue app and used to code provided by Aldi. To begin, they provide the opportunity to complete a few practice questions before initiating the official interview submission. You can do as many practices as you want, there doesn't seem to be a limit or cap. I would recommend that you use this chance to practice as much as possible. Though the practice questions were not the same questions in the official interview, if gives you the chance to get used to the process and the quick timeframe allowed for your answers. The actual interview process involved a series of 8 questions, ranging from situational inquired to questions about your experience and background. You are given 90 seconds to prepare after each question is asked (video of an actor reads the question, then the question is listed on the screen while a timer counts down), then you have a limited amount of time to answer each question, which varied from 90 seconds to 2 minutes if I recall. Once the timer runs out, there is no chance to review the video or rerecord your answers. The last 2-3 questions were multiple choice questions/responses. While I understand that this could be considered by some employers to be a useful tool for sifting or sorting through a multitude of applicants, I do not see the real value of this system. As a seasoned manger with thousands of interviews under my belt, I believe that an interview should be a conversation between two people. I've never had a stopwatch with me while interviewing anyone, limiting their allowed time for answers, then cutting them off when they reach their time limit. It is fairly well known that you should prepare for interviews and do your best to limit your answers to most questions to 2-3 minutes, but this was extreme to say the least.

1st. Pre-recorded video questions, which were a bit odd. 2nd phone interview with Aldi recruiter. 3rd in-person interview with district manager. 4th teams interview with the regional ops manager. Each interview was about 30 minutes. A good experience. Every interview they point out the fast pace environment with a only a few staff members so speed, coaching and efficiency is a must.

It went great for the first part. They called and set up a second interview and then when I was waiting for the interview to start I got an email stating that they were moving on with a different person. I was irritated because I literally signed on and 5 minutes past when the interview was suppose to start I get that email and was left hanging. Idk what kind of crap they are running there but it was highly unprofessional
