      The recruiter reached out to me in March for the “Community Outreach Specialist” role. It only required 1+ year of community outreach experience. I had the phone interview with the recruiter and it was great. The recruiter set up my second interview with the VP of Access and Innovation. We had a great conversation, too. Following the interviews, I haven’t heard anything in over a week. I decided to email the recruiter about any updates. I was informed that the position had been put on pause. No problem at all. A week later after the response, the recruiter said that position had been changed from the “Community Outreach Specialist” role to the “Community Partnerships Manager” position. The job descriptions were very similar but with different pay. I was also told that I would be considered for a similar position with a different target audience, if this one didn’t work out. I was very hopeful and ecstatic about it. The recruiter set up the next interview with two other individuals (VP of Sales and Community Partnerships Manager III). The interview went extremely well again. I asked if they had any reservations about me and they informed me they couldn’t think of any. I waited patiently for two weeks only for the recruiter to tell me that they were updating the job description again. Unfortunately, I was no longer being considered for the position because they actually wanted a candidate with a background in traditional Sales instead. I was befuddled by their decision. As a note, the interview process prolonged to almost two months with the constant changes in the job. I wish them well in finding a great candidate.

      The interview process was five interviews. There was a lot of redundancy. Some of the questions bordered on illegal. They expect you to create a PowerPoint and present it. With how poorly run the recruiting is, I can only imagine how bad it is to work there.

For this role, our process is designed to be thorough but efficient, typically consisting of four interview stages, including a panel presentation. The presentation component is intentional, as the role requires frequent external presentations and stakeholder engagement, we want to both assess current capability and understand where coaching and development may be needed. Based on our internal timelines, we aim to move candidates through the process as quickly and thoughtfully as possible while ensuring a consistent and fair evaluation across all candidates. We take compliance and interview integrity very seriously. Our interview questions are structured, documented, and designed to align with legal guidelines and best practices. That said, if any question felt inappropriate, we would genuinely want to understand more so we can address it directly and ensure it does not happen again. We recognize that not every process will feel like the right fit for every candidate, but our goal is always to create a thoughtful, respectful, and transparent experience while maintaining a high bar for the role.
