Thank you for your feedback. I would agree with you that our colleagues are a great bunch.
I want to respond to the mis-information, inaccuracies of your feedback.
Being in the business for over 3 years you will have seen changes and development of fellow colleagues, facilities, and the work environment. I believe we perform much better today in these areas than in the past as we continue to improve things for everyone. I must disagree that our management team has little to no experience. A quick tally of those that have been in management and leadership positions total over 150 years.
I don’t understand why people accept a job and then say wages are unacceptable. There is personal responsibility that needs to take priority. Not everyone values the highest salary and some like the work environment, the interesting and challenging problem solving we do on a daily basis, maybe even the location which saves them money or allows them to spend more time at home. Many individuals have received many wage increases over the years. From 2018-2019 we committed to a 10% company wide increase. Over 200 wage increases have happened since 2019 and throughout 2020 and 2021.
You make a false statement that the majority of benefits have been taken away. Only 2 have been paused out of 20+ benefits which is less than 10%. I am proud of supporting benefits such as enhanced parental leave, earn additional holidays (time served), modern facilities with brand new equipment, Discount scheme on purchases, EAP programme, and the continuation of providing a free flu jab for every employee and many more benefits. We have free bean to cup coffee, the largest proportion of onsite private parking on the industrial estate (other businesses struggle), new and modern canteen facilities, Ipad pro tablets for all managers and other colleagues, collaboration space and facilities to make the job easier, even a ping pong table. Many of these elements are taken for granted by some, including yourself.
It is incorrect and disingenuous to state there has been no training or formal qualifications offered to colleagues. In particular we had 3 workshops that orientated around Time management and dealing with change in the workplace. In addition to this we ran a workshop titled “Coaching skills”. This is in addition to some externally delivered training workshops for the leadership group. On top of this we utilise the Facebook Workplace platform to share experiences, tips, knowledge and fun stuff too. Finally we have created a large collaboration area of over 2,000sqft that allows each department to have a dedicated space to create and develop ideas and plan ahead. We are not a large corporate or conglomerate, but we certainly aim high in this area, and will continue to do so.
I find it interesting how people find the courage to voice their opinions externally coupled with lots of advice and commentary of where they think things are going wrong, yet don’t seek to put the effort in whilst in the business to voice these concerns and be part of changing things. On this basis it brings out the worst in people as they seek to make comments that they hope others find interesting regardless of how this aligns to reality.
Find the courage to stand by your thoughts and convictions in the workplace and make real change happen rather than moan after leaving the company.
We are not perfect and there are areas to improve. I feel proud that we recognise this and proactively work on these areas at pace, and I feel we perform well with this approach against other companies I talk to.
I hope you find a better fit elsewhere.
