Avantages

Compensation is average. There really is not much of anything else good that can be said of this company. There are some good products, but service support of those products takes the strategy of trying to squeeze as much money from as little service as possible. Products are purposely designed so that customers will be forced to pay high prices for services they would normally prefer to do for themselves.

Inconvénients

Abusive disrespectful treatment of their suppliers. Some managers are abusive of employees and HR looks the other way. Women are almost exclusively employed only in clerical positions, and are generally not treated with respect, or valued. Those few women in technical positions are not treated fairly or given fair opportunities. Generally the company undervalues key employees. This company is constantly searching desperately for buried treasure. They trash and lose highly profitable business units, if they do not believe there is a huge pot of gold in the near future for that business. Only an outrageous growth business plan is of any interest, so everything but that, gets bled dry and then disposed of. This company is considered toxic by its suppliers, its end customers, and many of its employees.

Avantages

-Hiring seems egalitarian -The pay was fairly good -Occasional company lunches

Inconvénients

-An endless parade of wasteful daily 30-minute meetings... two per day for some people -Very early hours are the norm; most employees start at 6:00-8:00 AM -The workforce is largely dull suburbanites, with 7-8 males for every female -The office has its fair share of unpleasant bully types. Rigid thinking and low education seem common as well. I suspect this is because Veeco has a big military recruitment program, and ever since it bought Ultratech (of San Jose, CA) back in 2017, MAGA types have become more common. It's probably no coincidence how in recent years, the San Jose branch's Glassdoor score has sunk down to near Veeco's national average.
