Avantages

The people and free myki travel.

Inconvénients

Micromanagement, low pay, excessive red tape, and a toxic culture are prevalent. A large portion of the systems, processes, and daily tasks completed are designed simply to ensure other departments have work to do. Around 80% of the work undertaken is administrative, serving departments outside of project delivery. Non-technical staff or individuals without engineering backgrounds are checking project progress just to tick boxes. Many roles have been created for the sake of it. Project roles often exist merely to show the state or federal government that money is being spent on infrastructure, when in reality taxpayers' money is being used on filler roles rather than genuinely improving the public transport system in regional areas. As a result, Victoria is approximately 10 to 15 years behind other states and countries in terms of rail systems.

Avantages

It's a stable work environment with good benefits and great salary

Inconvénients

Very bureaucratic, so much paperwork, forms and procedures to do the most basic work. Almost no work office culture, no young people at all. People barely do their job, let alone work with others, or aim to improve things. I was treated well but it was just so mind numbing that I had to leave
