Avantages

Some of the pros were that the coworkers were great people. Everybody was kind to each other and willing to help each other out. Also working 3 days a week was not a bad schedule for me.

Inconvénients

While the coworkers were great, management was horrible. Target truly does not care about the employees, you are just another number on a chart somewhere to them. They have unrealistic expectations for how quickly and efficiently you need to load up the trucks. A manager once told me I had a total of “an hour of downtime” if you added up all my time between scanning each box over the course of my 12 hour shift.... yes because i have 5 lanes of conveyers shooting boxes at me that I have to load up into trucks as well as massive pallets of cases of water and who knows what else, while driving around a lift to scan and deliver boxes to other peoples lanes. Yeah I’m sorry, but there is for sure going to be quite a bit of time in between scans when I’m delivering stuff, it would be impossible to be sitting around only scanning boxes all shift. They work your fingers to the bone for very low pay and are never happy with anything. It’s a great job if you are desperate and need a temporary job like I did. But I would stay far away when it comes to having a good career. Also, get used to the shift hours, I worked from 5pm to 5am. While it was nice only working 3 nights a week, it really messes with your sleep schedule.

Avantages

- pay is competitive with no degree - Some flexibility for lead hours you work - insurance is very good

Inconvénients

- added way more to the leads plate with no raise in money - expect the leads to have difficult conversations with team members even though we our team members ourselves and most of the time doesn’t turn out good for the leads. - no overtime for leads so warehouse workers make more money with a month or two of overtime depending on where you are at in pay scale. - Yearly raises are terrible and if you start at the bottom and take the average yearly raise it will take 20 years to cap out - leads rarely get promoted to operational manager even though the company pretends to promote from within. A lead has been promoted in almost two years since I have been here. -operational managers hired are a joke and don’t understand whatever department they are hired to besides hitting the required numbers for the day. - Operational mangers treat team members like a number and pretend to care about you - They continue to hire outside the company for operational managers that should never be one and continue to fail. Leadership for departments changes often due to this process.
