Avantages
The hourly pay is very competitive compared to other hospitals in the Michigan area. I would say that Sparrow provides one of the highest hourly wages in the area. And if you live in or around the Lansing area it is an easy commute.
Inconvénients
In my 15 years with this hospital I have seen profound changes and not for the better. Like most hospitals they are experiencing increased cost and decreased returns. That means, reduced staffing numbers across the board. Eliminating entire areas of the hospital and outsourcing of employees. Changing retirement plans to place the burden on the employee rather than the employer. Increased health care cost for employees and their families, yet only providing an annual 1% raise that does not keep up with inflation. Having union representation that seems more concerned about their relationship with upper management than the employees that PAY THEIR SALARY !!! Using electronic charting and it's data to benefit patients and penalize employees. Not providing employee support and room for advancement. And more importantly not providing the resources to educate their employees to create a knowledgable and competitive workforce of the future.
