Avantages

Individual department managers and leads are usually understanding and laid back. The production department is a great job for college kids -- flexible hours, fun staff and decent pay for relatively easy work. If you work in customer service or marketing you will learn A LOT and get great experience. Also -- all departments get to take a break every two hours. In marketing you get to do some travel as well.

Inconvénients

Production -- you're on your feet all day. Christmas is the busy season, and they usually run on 10 hour shifts at 6 days a week around the holidays. Also they usually cut back on staff and hours once the busy season is over, so prove your worth while you're there. Customer Service -- You usually work those same crazy hours during the busy season, and of course you have to deal with ridiculous customers. Problem with that is that the customer is always right at this company..even when the customer is completely wrong and is costing the company a ton of money. Management makes exceptions allll the time, which makes the customers think they can use coupons from 5 years ago or take advantage of a sale that ended last week, etc. Marketing -- Employees are usually lucky to last 6 months in this department. People usually find new employment in that time or the owners find a reason to get rid of them. You're expected to read minds and know everything about everything to excel in a position. Since December, three coordinators left for other employment. Two directors and two coordinators have been fired. While you learn a lot whole you're here (you do a little bit of everything), you never know when one little thing will get you fired. The owners have no real budget or schedule. They decide today that they're going to start a sale tomorrow (this is how every sale is) and micromanage everything that happens in the department. They treat successful careermen and women like incompetent children. There is a lot of travel involved, so if you don't want to travel, this position isn't for you.

Avantages

The employees are amazing here. You won't find a better group of people to work with and the job itself is actually pretty cool. The hours are fairly flexible depending on what department you're in. Production is probably the best department because you can have independence and you can essentially choose your own hours; it's nice for kids in college.

Inconvénients

So many cons. The owners should not be running a company. They are the most immature, unstable people I had ever had the unfortune of dealing with. Marketing department employees don't last for more than 6 months because they are micromanaged, belittled, and insulted constantly by the owners with no sense of direction from them. All they do is scream at each other, which is extremely unprofessional, not to mention they scream about other employees in front of their employees. They need to grow up and learn interpersonal skills. They both act extremely inappropriately towards their employees which drives people away immediately. This could be a cool place to work if it weren't for the owners. They would have to be blind and really unintelligent to not know that none of their employees respect them; they know it, they just don't care. If you want to hate your job, then this is the place for you. But if not, avoid this place like the plague.
