Avantages

It was not often that on Sunday I catch myself looking forward to going to work on Monday. That is a thing that happens now, working at Redbubble. I really appreciate the fact that People&Culture seem to care about things aside from just the work but actually making employees happy. Other reviews have mentioned this already, but things like laid back and intelligent colleagues, a standing desk if you want it, the lunch / stocked kitchen, quite groovy-decorated and light office space, all contribute to happiness. That and of course the usual: being trusted to do your thing well, given freedom and autonomy with little management interference/overhead/ballast. I also feel as if I am somehow contributing to a slightly "meaningful" endeavour. Facilitating the artists selling their work to customers, instead of selling ads or something. That makes it easier to look at myself in the mirror every day, too. I like that if you're still at your desk at 6pm, someone is bound to come and tell you you should probably be heading home. That is one of the single most important indicators that a company's culture has the right work/life/priorities balance. I feel privileged to be working among the Bubblers.

Inconvénients

The hiring process was a protracted nightmare, unfortunately. But I think I caught them at an unfortunate time - no fault of anyone in particular, just the stars aligning that way. I'd love to be able to work part-time, but since the company is growing and everyone is mega busy as it is, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Avantages

This company is so unethical, they don't deserve any praise. I still keep my RedBubble shop active because my designs are still selling, but I won't be uploading new designs in the near future.

Inconvénients

A few years ago, RedBubble started taking over 50% commission from artists in its standard tier. The company has no clear guidelines for moving up in the tier system: some artists have reportedly made 12,000 sales in a month, and are still stuck in standard. When I complained about this system and suggested a more fair fee structure, the company dodged my questions, responding with a cut-and-paste breakdown of the account fee structure. In my complaint, I included screenshots from the official RedBubble thread on Reddit to show that many other artists had voiced their disgust with the exploitative account fees. A day later, I discovered I'd been shadow-banned from that Reddit thread. Coincidence? Or passive aggression from the company? Likely the latter, because I hadn't posted anything on the thread.
