Avantages
Its a lovely place to work in terms of location; I am based at the Mailbox and my colleagues are wonderful and its pleasant to work there. Recently relaxed dress code, good charity initatives and some good team bonding. I have some skilled co-workers but there is an old-fashioned approach to marketing which I personally find frustrating.
Inconvénients
There is a huge issue around people leaving; I have learnt this week that somebody really good and experienced is leaving after only being here a few months and they really made an impact focusing on people instead of bottom line. He was the only person that actually asked me how I am feeling or if there is anything that he or his department can do to support marketing (and I've been here 3 years!). He is going somewhere else for more money and I have no doubt that they will replace him with a minimum wage employee with no experienced we will be back to square one. Everybody though that things were actually changing but now he is leaving and we are back to square one. We are losing the decent experienced people and replacing them with people who we are not training sufficiently to fill the gaps. The main goals of the departments contradict each other and this creates an unhealthy amount of ring fencing (based on director bonus') where the overall objective of the business is compromised by individual greed. There is a level of arrogance around some of the C-suite and directors and a general opinion is that they don't listen to advice from people lower than them in the company. There are people in senior roles that have no experience outside of Advanced and those with subject matter qualifications are generally overruled by people who have no best practise experience. This makes standards drop across the whole business.
