Avantages
-NTK coasts on the collective goodwill it has accrued over its 22 years in business. This was waning by the time I left the company due to poor hires and awful management practices. -NTK is located in Causeway Bay and is in a Grade A building. The facilities received a major face lift a few years ago, with both cosmetic and technological improvements.
Inconvénients
-The saddest thing about NTK is that it used to be one of the better all inclusive academic tutoring companies in Hong Kong. While the owner, TK Ng, should be credited with recognising a market need when he started the company in 1996, the day to day operations and the academic quality control was done by two minority shareholders as well as some other capable staff. When these shareholders left in 2015/2016 due to increasing erratic behaviour by TK Ng, they were replaced by sycophants with zero people skills. If you weren’t seen as obedient, you were effectively ostracised. It didn’t matter how many thousands of hours of revenue you had brought in, how high your student retention rate was, or how well your students performed on their exams. This led to an exodus of some of NTK’s best teachers and managers. -The company is now a shell of what it used to be with new hires from middling or no name universities. Each hire just got worse and worse with HR scraping the bottom of the barrel (HR is also comically bad and often violates Hong Kong Labor Law)
