Avantages
The pay is not bad compared to previous patient care technician/clinical technician jobs I have had. However, it is still not enough to keep up with the cost of living in the area. Health and 401k benefits are good. The hospital's goals and ideals laid out at orientation were admirable. My coworkers take a while to warm up to new people, but once they do, they are a pleasure.
Inconvénients
Despite being an experienced tech, I feel incredibly micromanaged a lot of the time. Then when I need help from my clinical director, she is nowhere to be seen or is very defensive and will not give a straight answer. This could very well just be an issue that I have with MY manager. I have not experienced other managers here. The staffing here at Fairfax is not always super safe and can be erratic and change without notice. I will come into work thinking that the day will be well-staffed and have it change an hour before I expect someone to come in, because it seems like the manager is doing that particular employee a favor... Or something...? People are allowed to clock in to work 10-15 minutes late without any consequences, take an hour for lunch without anyone saying anything.
