I'm talking living paycheck to paycheck and barely making ends meet while the company president vacations every other week. You could be a loyal, high-performing employee navigating a toxic environment, and the president’s response would be... well, more work for the same meager, far-below-industry-standard pay. He runs the company like a middle school clique: if you didn’t drink the company Kool-Aid and worship the ground company president walked on, you weren’t just left out—you were gaslit into thinking you spilled it. And the gaslighting didn't just come from him, either; there are plenty of loyal cronies willing and eager to make you feel like you're the problem. IDG’s idea of leadership seemed to involve selective enforcement of office policies, shifting expectations, and the kind of “company culture” that makes HR departments and legal counsels nervous. In a nutshell, if you're looking for a work environment that fosters equity and inclusion, look elsewhere.
