Working at Good-Loop was a definite low-point in my career. While it presents itself as a socially-motivated organisation, what I experienced doesn’t resemble any form of ethics that I am familiar with. The company frequently hires staff straight out of school. This is not with the intention of providing them with the skills and experience to embark on their careers, but to use and abuse them. The expectations placed on these youngsters is entirely out-of-step with anything I’ve seen in the industry. While somebody without any prior experience would ordinarily be expected to work only simpler tasks and to require extensive mentorship, at Good-Loop they’re expected to handle senior-level work without any assistance. A junior member of staff taking a long time with a task would ordinarily be taken as a sign that they were not being adequately supported or that the work was simply beyond their current abilities. Here, on the other hand, you can expect to be shouted at, told you’re not good enough, accused of being lazy, etc. It felt to me that my manager’s role wasn’t to help me, but to prevent me from recognising how I was being exploited. I was expected to do the work of a senior staff member because the company didn’t want to pay for experience. If you’re considering joining this company, I would recommend that you reconsider. The pay is bad, they treat you poorly and you’ll learn less than you would working elsewhere.

Avantages

• Generous perks package. • It seemed at first like this start-up was trying to do something 'good'.

Inconvénients

This company exemplifies corporate greed masked by hollow promises of social impact. I was among the 11 employees, including a colleague on maternity leave, who were callously made redundant under the guise of cost-cutting, while executives were paying themselves six-figure salaries. Good-Loop’s veneer of ‘changing the world’ is a facade. Behind closed doors, it’s a toxic mix of hypocrisy and exploitation. Many of us were led to believe in a mission that was overshadowed by executive greed and a complete lack of empathy. There seemed to be a pervasive culture of drinking the ‘we are going to change the world’ Kool-Aid, which sometimes overshadowed practical realities. To add insult to injury, the CEO had the audacity to leave a glowing 5-star review, which speaks volumes about the company’s integrity and honesty. If you’re considering working here, beware. Don’t buy into their PR spin. They prioritise profits over people, and their actions speak louder than their empty promises.
