Avantages

Once hired, some employees just show up. No real management equates to a pretty relaxed work environment off the production floor. On the production floor, you will be hurried, but no one will know if you did a good job or not. So as long as you look busy management is satisfied.

Inconvénients

Pay for floor technicians and engineers is below average for this geographic area. Expect no more than $15 for very experienced technicians. EXPERIENCED engineers would be lucky to earn double that. Raises and bonuses are difficult to come by. Equipment is antiquated. Very little to no learning opportunities. Technical staff is not knowledgeable. Zero room for advancement. They hire from outside the company to satisfy their customer's diversity quotas before promoting from within. Poor planning and an over obsession with 'lean-manufacturing' leads the production floor scrambling constantly. That work environment is frantic and typically unproductive. Repair and salvage areas are like a sweat shop with some strong opinions, personalities & aromas. Taking pride in your work is NOT a priority. They actually 'salvage' ICs from broken potted assemblies! IPC & IEEE are unknown acronyms. Long story longer... not ideal for someone serious about their career.
