Avantages
I enjoyed working at Explorys and consider my time there the most productive of my career. The work was very challenging. I learned more useful techniques, technologies, and strategies for developing working software at Explorys than elsewhere in my career. Didn't hurt that my engineering colleagues were excellent.
Inconvénients
Long hours. Chaotic priorities. Have to be comfortable performing many different technical roles to deliver, ie. you write the code, you write the build, you write the deploy, you operationalize, you support ... many hats. If one isn't comfortable doing all these activities, the level of individual effort to deliver software can seem daunting.
