Avantages
Detroit Service Learning Academy does service a lower socioeconomic class in the midst of Detroit. The students are bright pupils with loving spirits and amazing personalities, It is a true BLEESING to help shape and mold these students in to the future of Detroit.
Inconvénients
This place is like a reality TV show. Many of these people thrive off of making drama - creating cliques, spreading rumors and being rude to each other. Some people are like crabs in a barrel and do not want to see any one get ahead of them. These type of people are so toxic to the environment that they stunt the growth of DSLA. We have many people in leadership due to the amount of time they have worked at a place and not their credentials.. The few toxic people who are in charge (not all of the leaders) make the place extremely hostile work environment. Lastly, many people have a very reactive, instead of proactive mindset, which makes for bad communication AWFUL... and that is not just communication within the work place but awful communication with students and parents.
