Avantages

Aldi pays well and gives yearly raises.

Inconvénients

-No matter how hard you try or how much you get done, there are never enough employees to get things done properly. Aldi says this is for efficiency purposes, but I think it's just overworking people and making it their culture. -Originally was looking for a company that I could grow with long term, however I was told after being hired that they do not promote from inside the stores to district. They only hire fresh college grads. So if you work in a store, the highest you can progress is store manager. You're still stocking shelves and ringing on the register. Not above it obviously, but that's the end of the development road. -Very antiquated systems and ways of doing things. Printing off countless excel files. Inventory system is NEVER correct. Lots of handwritten busy work. Kind of like that one teacher in high school that made you copy the questions from the book along with answering. For a company that boasts about efficiency, they sure do love the handwritten audit. -Priorities and procedures change constantly. We can be told on Monday that we're doing things one way, then Wednesday you're getting in trouble for not doing things another way that wasn't even communicated to you. -Stay away from small or low volume stores. Pretty much always it was one cashier in the store and one keyholder and that's it. Which means that in addition to the mountain of manager tasks you have to complete, you are also responsible for running the entire floor on your own. Other higher volume stores had people in my same position with the same pay rate who never had to ring or fill up zones or even clean because they had staff to delegate those tasks to. To sum up, you never really feel like a manager, you feel like an overworked employee with extra work to do. - My particular district manager was...well there's no other word for it: mean. She would move up corporate deadlines to make herself look like an overachiever, stressing everyone out in the store. The way she spoke to people was shocking, so much so that a customer overheard her talking down to my store manager and asked me about it, saying "he wouldn't talk to a dog like that". I know this doesn't apply to all district managers, but it's tolerated. Maybe encouraged, since she did get promoted.
