Poor management, favoritism, and lack of professionalism
Avantages
access to gym and pool facilities; the Hilton Honors program, which allows employees to visit hotels worldwide at very reduced rates; globally recognized brand.
Inconvénients
I worked at Hilton Geneva, and unfortunately, my experience was negative. There are clear cases of favoritism in promotions, with individuals holding management positions without the academic background or technical knowledge required for such roles. The Room Division Manager lacks basic operational skills, struggling even with check-ins and check-outs, and the Front Office Manager, who was previously an assistant in the Rooms Division after working in housekeeping, also shows significant gaps in technical expertise. The hotel also suffers from a severe staffing shortage, leading to questionable decisions such as forcing front office interns to work in F&B, even though their internship contracts explicitly state they are there to learn front office operations. This undermines their professional development and reflects poor human resource management. As someone with extensive experience in hospitality, I know that when teams see their leaders lacking the knowledge and ability required for their positions, it leads to demotivation and frustration. Sadly, this is the reality at Hilton Geneva.
