Extremely poor management and hygiene
Avantages
Pros were you could say you worked at a four star hotel
Inconvénients
The hotel was loosing £40k/month so they refused to replace basic things such as the kitchen fridge for the baristas or the glass dishwasher. I was spoken to very disrespectfully as it seems management feel they will always be able to hire more staff due to the number of students in the city, so don't have to treat them well. While I was there we had a cockroach problem that the general manager refused to close the hotel to deal with. I found one in a coffee cup in the restaurant during one breakfast service. The culture was horrendous, and I overheard many racist and homophobic comments from staff. This included the general manager making an antisemitic comment in the kitchen. The head chef preyed on young waitresses, and I caught him once giving a shoulder rub to an 18 year old. When I disclosed a medical condition that required reasonable adjustments at work, the general manager told me he understood my pain levels as he was training for the London marathon. Do NOT take a job here if you can do anything else
