I’m a sophomore studying Computer Engineering at the University of Maryland, and I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of software and hardware. Recently, I’ve been working on projects that push both fronts—like designing a Swift app that runs real-time fact-checking with ChatGPT and Gemini APIs, and maintaining a 32-GPU cluster originally built for mining, which I’m now converting into an AI compute platform. Last summer, I led a Wabtec-sponsored project designing a mechanical drill attachment for mining trucks, which gave me hands-on experience with CAD, simulation tools, and team leadership. I’m now looking to deepen my experience on the firmware and embedded side, which is why I was really excited about Renesas’ work on data processing and sensor integration. I see this internship as a chance to bridge what I’ve built on my own with industry-grade systems, and contribute while learning as much as I can.
