Explain knocking and its prevention

Knocking, or detonation, or pinging, is an abnormal combustion phenomenon in internal combustion engines. This happens when there are multiple flame fronts that collide in the combustion chamber's air fuel mixture. That causes pressure and temperature to increase sharply to a characteristic metallic 'knocking' sound. And prolong knocking can cause damage to the engine, such as broken pistons, broken cylinders, and broken bearings. There are several solutions, and I will mention a few of them. First, we can use appropriate fuel with a Higher Octane value than regular, in addition to fuel additives that mainly work on preventing knocking. The ignition timing can be optimized via the vehicle ECU to be dynamically adjusted based on the sensor's inputs.
