Start with the customer requirements, break down the requirements to lower level, develop initial concepts to meet the requirements, perform any trades (cost/technical/schedule) for the design, get feedback, perform detailed design, procure material/components, assemble (maybe have a test assemble as well), verify the design meets requirements via test, then launch and operate
