Router is Layer 3 device (Network) mainly used to connect multiple networks and send traffic/packet from one n/w to another using shortest path with the help of routing table and Switch is Layer/3 device (DLL and N/W) where it will send traffic in the form of packet and frame with the help of MAC address table. Router is use in LAN and MAN whereas Switch used by ONLY LAN..
