Avantages

First and foremost, my colleagues are probably the best part of WeatherBug. They are super friendly and helpful and are a key factor in what makes going to work every day fun. My second favorite aspect is the impact we have on a daily basis to millions of WeatherBug users. You cannot say that about many jobs. Another key aspect that I like about working at WeatherBug is the technology we apply with our solutions. We use a very cloud-forward and platform agnostic approach; use the technology that makes the most sense for the solution.

Inconvénients

WeatherBug was acquired by GroundTruth back in 2016. That acquisition shook things up a bit and took about 2 years to settle down. Previous management wasn't well aligned with who WeatherBug is, so caused some confusion. That changed and is no longer an issue. Our parent company is not a consumer oriented company and the differences show up in company wide meetings. That's to be expected and while the disparity does cause some discussion amongst my peers, it's not a big distraction.

Avantages

Working at Groundtruth/WeatherBug has helped me reach personal goals in my career and work on interesting problems, and provide me with opportunity to gain experience for my next goals. The culture promotes collaboration and ownership and is in an industry that I really love. Weather patterns are fascinating.

Inconvénients

Some teams don’t always have long term stability and have contributed features or results that didn’t really pan out, or have turned into tech debt to paid down.
