Avantages

I'm associated with AirWatch(India) for more than a year now and experience in working with R&D Team is good so far. 1. One of The Best Tech Company to boost anyone's career, specially for R&D Developer with experience range 0-6 years. 2. Exponential growth of the company with almost doubling the head counts (in Bangalore) within last 12 months. 3. Young and energetic company with people in early stages of their professional career who ready to go the extra mile to achieve something. 4. No bureaucracy, quite flat structure with easy accessible to anyone, anytime. 5. Quite a decent paymaster, without any variable pay concept. 6. With it's acquisition by VMware, the brand 'AirWatch' got a new High. 7. Commitment and hard work will always get appreciated and recognized. 8. Working in true global environment. The US counterpart and PMs are nice to work with. 9. CEO - A Great Leader

Inconvénients

1. People eagerly looking for onsite opportunities will be badly disappointed. Being a 100% product based company and with no client locations concept, employees hardly get any opportunity to travel abroad [if you are a Indian SW professional, you are destined to go to USA, at least for a week... ;) ]. 2. Just to prove yourself out of the box, people here sometime end up in rat race [anyway it happens in India... ;) ].

Avantages

VMware is a big company but in many ways had a startup vibe. That was great because the resources and infrastructure of a big company were there, but it gave most people I worked with freedom to work on many projects, influence, move around, and contribute in many ways. Plus, many things moved faster than they might at other companies of the same size. Perks were really great including bonuses, events on the campus, opportunities, etc.

Inconvénients

The biggest con is the annual layoff. During most of the years I was there, we were growing like crazy, beating expectations, gaining in stock price, etc. It was always positive and upward. However, every single January, it was known that there would be a round of layoffs, even when all numbers were looking great as they almost always were. Management called it restructuring. But, over the years, some really good people were let go for no apparent reason. Then to add insult to injury, a week or two later, there would be a company quarterly meeting discussing how VMware was doing so well and is still hiring, but they had to make some changes. It always felt dishonest and the sympathy for those let go came across as disingenuous.
