Avantages

Of course this depends, but it is still nice that you can express your interest and you know that your manager is actually taking it under consideration. - Setting up career goals and keep track of them. - Many 1-1s with your manager which helps with career evolvement.
Inconvénients
- Long interview process - Fix term contracts can be extended up to the legal maximum time period before getting a long term contract. (can be stressful sometimes, but it is also the way the French law works)
