Avantages

When I was hired on it was a great place to work. Everyone worked for the same goal of customer service. The manager knew your strengths and put you to work where you would have the most success.

Inconvénients

One of the foundation principles is "Communication is Leadership." Communication is looked down upon if it is not totally positive. Even if you are just detailing what needs to be done for the betterment of the store. We are supposed to be a 1 = 3 employee, which now seems to be we need to be able to do the work of three employees and are paid for just being one person. I like working hard and being challenged, but this goes beyond most people's capabilities. Our store has become very clique. There are people the GM likes and they get the hours. It used to be a place I loved to go to and I would work as hard as I could for the betterment of the store. Now I see new hires getting sale shifts and they have no idea as to what products are in the store. The new hires have not started by doing maintenance shifts and where they can learn about our inventory first. They are put on sales shifts and are always on the 'walkies' asking if we have this product or another. When full time opportunities arise, people who have been working at the store seem to be at a disadvantage. Someone from the outside seems to get these full time opportunities. Very hard for the prime timers, no upward advancement possibilities.

Avantages

Everyone from director level on down in my department was great. Very collaborative. Gave you autonomy to do and try new things.

Inconvénients

Where do I start…Sr. Leadership is TERRIBLE. I mean absolutely horrific. No direction and plans were changing at the drop of a dime after the BB&B “merger”. You could feel the shift in the culture, just NASTY attitudes and taking the employees for granted. The new CEO and the rest of Sr. level execs acted like everyone was just expendable workhorses. They touted reopening the headquarters cafe as some awesome benefit so they could bring people back to the office full time. If you’re going to be bullish and require everyone back, have some guts and just do it. But don’t act like a cafe is some life changing benefit to get everyone excited. Anyway, blind leading the blind. The merit increase or raises - non existent. No 401k match. Nothing positive because the company is so broke. The new store concept sounds a mess. Save yourself and don’t even apply, let alone accept an offer. Joel Bines is no longer the CEO. He was a great guy and I think he had great ideas. Marcus Lemonis is the new CEO and I would give him a thumbs down.
