Avantages
Loved working with the kids, time spent in a real classroom was highly valuable. Some teachers and mentors in management are highly dedicated and worth learning from.
Inconvénients
Curriculum is strong once you can make sense of it, but without the advice of senior teachers it won't be clear how to effectively use it. Unless teachers are doing a lot of one-on-one tutoring and online classes, it is very difficult to make more than 12 hours/week, due to the after-school nature of the program. These odd mid-day hours are very difficult to mesh with other jobs so a living wage is nearly impossible to obtain. I have only seen this role work for college students or recent graduates looking for a first job. Additionally, the amount of time needed to be spent outside of class to prepare for classes and process paperwork is unclear— and this time is unpaid. Ultimately a third of my time was spent outside the classroom, so pay is realistically 2/3 of what is offered.
