Avantages
Earnings potential and benefits are good, when a branch office is well-managed. Outside Sales Reps receive a company car, gas card, ipad and iphone. Brand recognition and resources of a large corporation are a plus.
Inconvénients
The quality of service provided to customers has taken a drastic downturn the past several years, particularly since going public. Separating from Servicemaster has not improved this, at least at the field level. A large part of the pay is commission, so Sales Reps only get paid when jobs are completed and paid for. When service is bad, it hurts the Sales Rep’s paycheck and reputation. I worked at Terminix for almost a decade, navigating many changes over the years. I left this year, because I did not feel valued, and partnering with service became an uphill battle. I was selling more, but making less than some newly hired Sales Reps, because they started with higher salaries, and management refused to negotiate mine. Most salespeople make it less than 2 years at Terminix, so the unwillingness of management to retain an experienced, successful Sales Rep makes no sense to me.
