Avantages

The company is fun and laid back and they develop some pretty cool and fun mobile apps in the talent/singing/entertainment industry. If you like music and the talent/entertainment business, then you will have fun here. Office is comfy, in a great part of the SF Mission District, and extremely cozy. Team building activities, happy hours, company outings etc are common, you get delicious catered lunch twice a week and there is zero corporate/white collar mentality - everything is very casual and friendly. BUT...

Inconvénients

....I got laid off. This company is small, and likely to remain so. The apps they develop have potential but are impractical, underdeveloped and or appealing only to teenagers with aspirations of fame, while instead they should be appealing to most ages and people in order to acquire the millions of users needed to make real money and generate real buzz. The apps are fun and colorful, but never really break new ground in their respective market or create any kind of relevant buzz, aside from the fact that there are no more than 2 - 3 developers working on them at a time, when they would need several more to really develop its functionalities and potential. In its 5 years of existence the company never grew past its stable 35 employees and while I was there, right when it LOOKED like things were taking off and majorly revamped their app and tried to break into new businesses, they laid off almost 1/3 of their staff due to lack of funding, just confirming that perhaps this company will only survive if it remains small and doesn't aspire to much more. Bummer.
