Avantages
The front line staff are, for the most part, really great! Most of the PCA's and RN's really care about the patients and go above and beyond to make sure that the patient care experience is top notch. The therapy team is wonderful and they all work really hard to ensure that the patients get everything that they need. The outpatient program is one of the best programs I have ever seen, despite the fact that CEO continues to admit more patients than there is space for and all of the staff do a great job of caring for patients, despite the stressful work environment. The psychiatrists who are left and the nurse practitioners are truly amazing and really do care about the patients. The doctors are very supportive of the staff and genuinely care care about their well-being, too. Up until last Thursday, we had the best Clinical Director that I have ever worked with also. She was extremely knowledgeable, genuinely cared for staff and patients, and was a strong leader. She was one of the best supervisors in the entire building, but unfortunately she is no longer there, and no one else knows how to run the clinical program. Other members of the senior leadership team are good, like the Quality Director, but for the most part, the best part of this hospital aren't the decision makers.
Inconvénients
The CEO, Jason, will be the downfall of this hospital. He is a bully, even though he likes to describe himself as being approachable. I have personally seen or heard about him verbally attack and demean nursing, PCA and therapy staff on four separate occasions. At least two of my co-workers have reported that interactions with him have left them feeling as though they work in a hostile work environment and have gone so far as to report this to higher ups but nothing was done about it. Everyone is afraid to complain about him because they are afraid of being fired. The therapy team is short staffed and there is little concern about adding more than one or two full-time positions to manage the work load. Physicians are short staffed but administration continues to admit patients. Until there is a change in the highest position of leadership, this hospital will continue to be a poor place to work.
