Inconvénients
This role was described as remote, but in practice it felt more like a tightly monitored work-from-home position. Employees were expected to remain active on the computer throughout the workday so their Microsoft Teams status stayed green. It did not feel like employees were trusted to manage their work based on outcomes.
Even lunch did not feel fully protected because the expectation was still to remain at home and available if needed. Blocking your calendar for legitimate needs did not prevent meetings from being scheduled. Calendars and tasks were heavily watched, and all tasks had to be placed on the calendar, which created a culture where employees felt observed rather than trusted.
The 90-day probationary period was also a serious concern. During that period, employees did not seem to have realistic flexibility to take time off for medical appointments, even while working long days. It felt like using medical benefits during the first 90 days could put your job at risk, which made the value of paying for health insurance during that time feel questionable.
The company also felt behind in communication practices, work tools, and technology. Many systems and processes seemed outdated compared with current workplace standards. The expectations in the role did not fully match the offer letter or job description, which made the reality of the position different from what was presented during hiring.
The culture was difficult. Communication from management often felt unprofessional, and there was a pattern of gossip, criticism, and talking down to employees. There also seemed to be limited room for differing perspectives, with pressure to publicly support leadership messaging.
In some situations, messages from management appeared to have been discussed with team members ahead of time, which made the communication feel less like coaching or training and more like a coordinated confrontation. That approach made it difficult to feel psychologically safe or supported while learning the role.
