Avantages
Sandvik emphasizes support of non-performers and those resistant to change, improvement, or accountability. This focus sometimes prioritizes harmony over accountability, which can hinder high performance and necessary decision-making.
Inconvénients
While Sandvik promotes strong core values such as integrity “fair play”, accountability, collaboration, passion to win and customer-first, my experience revealed a concerning gap between these ideals and the company’s actions. Instead of fostering a high-performance culture rooted in fairness and accountability, leadership seemed overly focused on consensus and maintaining the status quo, even when mediocrity and poor performance went unchecked. This approach undermines true accountability, integrity, and honesty, creating an environment where difficult but necessary decisions are avoided. Organizations with ambitious goals and transformative missions must have the courage to uphold their stated values and support leaders who align with them. Unfortunately, Sandvik fell short in this regard. I hope they reflect on these challenges and make strides toward becoming a company that truly lives up to its stated principles.
